Emma Pooley, (handicap 6.3) won an Olympic silver medal for cycling in the time trial in 2008 and finshed 6th in 2012 but has recently turned her attentions to running, which has resulted in a fine win at the Lausanne Marathon and a reduction in her runbritain handicap score.

Andy Vernon moves to second spot on the ladder

After the inclusion of track races from 800m and up in the runbritain handicap scoring system, it's been a while since we've had two runners of the longer distances at the top of the ladder but after running the stunning time of 17:35 for 4 miles at the weekend, Andy Vernon (handicap MINUS 6.2) has leap frogged Andrew Osagie (handicap MINUS 6.1) and Lee Emmanuel (handicap MINUS 6.0) to take second spot behind Mo Farah (handicap MINUS 6.6).
