Help make sure no one has to face arthritis alone

Around 10 million people in the UK are living with arthritis. It can affect people of all ages – even children and teenagers. You can join our team of amazing Versus Arthritis runners, and you are joining a huge community pushing back against arthritis.

There are several different conditions, which can cause pain, swelling and stiffness in joints. Living with arthritis can be challenging -chronic pain can make everyday tasks, like making a cup of tea,really difficult. It is often dismissed, and this can lead to isolation and frustration.

With your help, support is available and there are many things people can do to live a fulfilling life.

We are Versus Arthritis.

We’re the 10 million people living with arthritis. We’re the carers, researchers, healthcare professionals, friends, family, runners and fundraisers, all determined that one day, no one will have to live with the pain, fatigue, and isolation that arthritis causes.

Giving strength when you need it

When a person with arthritis or someone close to them needs support, we are here to help. You can:

 

Funding research

With help from our incredible supporters, funding for new innovative treatments has been possible. Our community has been responsible for funding major medical advances, such as anti-TNF therapy, which has continued to transform the lives of people with inflammatory arthritis.

Together, we are bringing together researchers from across the world, funding them to develop more and better treatments.  And we are also working with healthcare professionals so that they can better support people with arthritis.  

 

Campaigning for change and recognition

Too many people accept the daily pain, fatigue and isolation that arthritis causes. Too many dismiss it as ‘just a bit of arthritis’. But our community don’t accept this.

Together with our supporters, Versus Arthritis are constantly campaigning to challenge the misconceptions around arthritis and to ensure that arthritis is recognised as priority in the UK.

“Completing the Virtual London Marathon was one of, if not the greatest achievement of my life. I had never run a marathon before, but now realise I can do it!

I chose to support Versus Arthritis because my wife, Elaine, has been suffering from Psoriatic Arthritis for over 12 years. It is a debilitating condition. However, I know first-hand what wonderful work Versus Arthritis have done to help Elaine and others like her.

I would encourage anyone to do a virtual marathon. The secret for me was to follow a training plan and stick to it. It was one of the best days of my life.”

June Steps Challenge
