Wrexham Elite Marathon and Half Marathon in April 2021

Get away from the cold and train in Cyprus

The Wrexham Elite Marathon and Half Marathon was devised in spring and summer of 2020 when it became clear that some of the big city marathons and half marathons might not be staged due to COVID-19.

This seven lap race is open to male athletes capable of running 2:40 or quicker for a marathon and female athletes capable of running a sub 3:00 hour marathon or the elite half marathon equivalent (1:15 men and 1:30 women).

There is a new and officially measured fast course based on the small loop of the renowned Village Bakery Wrexham Half Marathon and entries are strictly limited.  It is on flat, well maintained tarmac roads through an industrial and predominantly rural area.

This race has been planned in preparation for a return to COVID-19 safe road running and will go ahead only with final and full approval of UKA, Welsh Athletics and the local authority.

Both the marathon and half marathon will start and finish outside the old 'Club House' on Oak Road Wrexham Industrial Estate Wrexham LL13 9RG. Runners will set off in waves depending upon their predicted finish times unless the situation allows for a return to normal race starts. The half marathon will finish in Isycoed village and runners will be signposted to the parking areas from there.

The race is fully supported with a road closure, the most up to date integrated chip-timing, free to download photographs, with on course nutrition and free designated parking.

Race entry for affiliated runners starts at £24 for the half marathon (plus online registration fee).

If your Power of 10 or results link does not support your entry, the organisers reserve the right to cancel your place.

Please note that this race is separate from the Village Bakery Wrexham Half Marathon, which takes place on Sunday 14th February 2021.

The Wrexham Marathon and Half Marathon takes place from 0900 on Sunday 25th April 2021

Entries are expected to be strong and can be found  on thsi link
