Worthing Half Marathon, 3km and Children’s Mini Mile comes to Sussex coast in 2018

The third 'Worthing Half Marathon' will be welcomed to the Sussex coast on Sunday 11th February 2018.

Over 2000 participants can expect to explore the most scenic parts of Worthing beginning in Marine Parade, navigating around the town before returning along the seafront for several miles.

Richard Xerri, Race Director says: “Last year the turnout was fantastic. The weather was great and the race brought people out to support the runners, mix with neighbours and listen to the brass band down the seafront.  The course remains fast and the event has gained a great reputation for club athletes and recreational runners. Once again, we support UK road running and are able to offer free entry to those ranked in the top 200 over half or 10km in the UK.

Like last year we are excited to be assisting Guild Care in their fundraising efforts and supporting the local community with this event. Children will play their musical instruments, with others cheering the runners on.  The wider running community support many local businesses in town following the event."

Local children between the ages of 5 and 10 will also be able to take part in a children’s specific race along with a 3km (aged 11+).The aim of these is to create participation outside of the school environment and having positive experiences of sport from a young age.

Friends and families will be encouraged to come along and support the participants on the day taking in all that Worthing has to offer - both at the seaside and in the town.  

Councillor Kevin Jenkins, Worthing Borough Council's Executive Member for Regeneration, said: "It's fantastic to see that the Worthing half and the mini mile are now firm fixtures in the town's calendar. It's great to see so many people getting involved, whether that's putting on their running shoes or cheering on those taking part.

"These are exciting times for Worthing and events like this showcase how much the borough has to offer."
