Record breaking weekend

During the past weekend, records were set in Manchester and Boston by home-grown talent from Leigh and Lincoln.
In Manchester, Keely Hodgkinson (handicap -1.8) broke the world indoor best for 600m setting a time of 1:23.41. The Olympic silver medallist, from the nearby town of Leigh, took 0.03 off the previous world best which had stood since 2004, set by Olga Kotlyarova.
In Boston, at the John Thomas Terrier Classic, another British record fell, this time in the men’s 3000m as Lincoln's Sam Atkin (handicap -6.0) set a phenomenal time of 7:31.97 to beat Mo Farah’s previous record of 7:32.62. Tokyo Olympian Atkin set the quickest time by a British man, outdoors or indoors, over the distance on his way to second overall in the race. Adam Fogg (handicap -4.8) was in great form with a 7:44.14 clocking.
In New York at the Dr. Sander Invitational, Roisin Flanagan (handicap -1.0) ran a big 3000m PB of 8:53.53 finishing 2nd ,whilst in Lyon, Guy Learmonth (handicap -4.8) clocked 1:46.84 over 800m.
At the World Indoor Tour Gold in Karlsruhe, Germany, George Mills (handicap -5.1) set a world lead time of 3:35.88 on his way to victory in the men’s 1500m. The time was also an indoor personal best.
Dina Asher-Smith also captured the British record in the women’s 60m as she clocked 7.04 to win in Germany. The Olympic, world and European medallist ran a PB of 7.07 in the heats, shaving 0.01 off her previous best, and returned to the final to revise the record books with the 7.04 mark.
