Weekend update

This was a big weekend for half marathons with the Bradford 10 also topping 2000 finishers. Kate Reed had an impressive return to her best Olympic form, in the Bath Half Marathon, with a 72:44 PB performance.

The Bath Half Marathon had another mammoth field of over 11,000 finishers with Kate Reed running a lifetime best. The 2008 Olympian, Kate Reed (handicap 4.3), put years of injury problems behind her to take an inspiring victory in 72:44, a personal best and some three minutes clear of the field.

After a 63:41 run at the windy Big Half in London last weekend, Chris Thompson (handicap -5.9) ran his second half marathon in seven days, this time making the most of the slightly less windy conditions to win in a season’s best of 63:09. That saw Thompson (pictured above) break the tape with a winning margin of almost 90 seconds as he builds towards the London Marathon.

In the Bradford 10k, it was Joe Sagar (handicap -3.2) who took the first prize in 32:24 with Jemima Elgood (handicap 2.7) taking top honours in the women's event with a PB of 36:23.

Manx Triathlete, William Draper (handicap 3.2) was the overall winner in the Stafford Half Marathon taking the gold in a PB of 71:43. Kelly Louise Butler (handicap 5.5) took the women's title in 84:31.
