Some of the best British endurance performances came in the Valencia Half Marathon and at the popular Leeds Abbey Dash 10k over the weekend. The fastest parkruns are also featured.

At the Valencia Half Marathon, Emile Cairess (handicap -7.5) moved to fourth on the UK all-time list over the half marathon as he clocked a time of 60:32 in Spain. He now sits behind Mo Farah (handicap -3.7), Callum Hawkins (handicap -5.8) and Jake Smith (handicap -6.6) on the list.

His previous best was set in Ghent earlier this year, a time of 61:16, so this was a significant improvement for the Yorkshire athlete. Samantha Harrison (handicap -3.1) was the first British woman across the line in a time of 69:36.

The Leeds Abbey Dash 10k, saw some top tier performances from Jess Warner-Judd (handicap -3.3) and Andrew Milligan (handicap -5.3) who won on the wet roads in Yorkshire .

Warner-Judd clocked a chip time of 32:18 to comfortably win the senior women’s race ahead of Atsede Gidey and Lucy Reid (handicap -1.0) who posted times of 32:34 and 32:35 respectively.

Milligan won the senior men’s race by two seconds ahead of Timothy Lefroy (handicap -4.9) in 29:22.

U20 Northern Ireland runner, Nick Griggs (handicap -5.7), finished a sensational second in the men’s race at the Northern Ireland International Cross-Country and Bobby Rea Cross-Country, held at the Billy Neill Centre in Dundonald. Griggs completed the 8 km course in 25:36,70, just metres down on Ethiopian,Gizelaw Ayana. Belfast man, Eskander Turki (handicap -4.0), representing NI and Ulster, was third in 25:32 and Brighton based Finn McNally (handicap -4.5) fourth in 25:45. 

Izzy Fry (handicap -1,7) finished 3rd in the women's race to Ethiopians, Medina Elsa Kumanda and Melknat Wudu Sharew who finished 1st and 2nd respectively.

The fastest UK parkruns came from Georgina Schwiening (handicap -0.4), and Will Paulson.  Schwiening ran16:33 at the Storey’s Field parkrun/parkwalk. Stroud native, Will Paulson ran 14:59 at the Tetbury Goods Shed parkrun after a groundbreaking 2022 on the track with a best 1500m time of 3:33. Paulson won by over 2-minutes.
