Weekend update

There was plenty to shout about this weekend with many marvellous performances across the UK and in the sunnier climate of San Juan Capistrano in California where Patrick Dever and Andy Butchart ran outstanding 10000m personal bests. The Trafford 10k road race saw many top athletes run best times with Jess Judd and Kadar Omar the individual winners.
Patrick Dever (handicap -5.3) moved to fifth on the UK All-Time list over 10,000m, and Andrew Butchart (handicap -6.8) broke the Scottish record in a fast and furious race in California.
Dever recorded a time of 27:23.88 for sixth in the race finishing with a 60 second final lap behind the 26:33 winner, Grant Fisher from the USA. The time was also well inside the World Championship's qualifying standard (27:28:00) for Oregon in the summer.
Further back, in a loaded field, Butchart broke Ian Stewart’s 45-year-old Scottish record with a time of 27:36.77. Sam Atkin (handicap -6.0) was credited with a 13:22.9 5000m time too.
Jess Judd (handicap -2.5) was the Trafford 10k winner in 31:06, a time that takes her to fourth on the UK All Time 10k rankings just behind Eilish McColgan (handicap -5.3).
Samantha Harrison (handicap -1.8) ran an amazing 31:11 for second place ahead of Charlotte Arter (handicap -1.7) who ran a new Welsh record of 31:26. Northern Ireland athlete, Grace Carson (handicap -0.1) ran 32:45 for top under 23 ahead of Anna Bracegirdle (handicap -0.4) in 5th with a huge PB of 32:52 as she looks toward the Manchester Marathon.
W45, Kirsty Longley (handicap 0.9), ran 34:30 which is the fastest by a V45 athlete in many years to go second on the All Time runbritain W45 list behind the legendary Olympian, Priscilla Welsh.
The men’s race was won by with Kadar Omar (handicap -5.4) in 28:27, five seconds ahead of Jonny Mellor (handicap -6.5) and Ben Connor (handicap -5.9), who was third in 28:37.
21 men ran under 30 minutes and there were 42 below 31 minutes in an exceptionally fast field.
At the World Athletics Indoor Tour Bronze in Belgrade, Serbia, Elliot Giles (handicap -5.3) was again in winning form with a 3:37.49 1500m win. There was also a world record in the Pole Vault of 6.19m. Full results on this link.
The fastest parkruns over the weekend came at the 41st Doddington Hall parkrun with Shane Robinson (handicap -3.8) running 14:48 and in the 425th St Andrews parkrun where Morag Millar (handicap -1.1) ran 16:47 for the fastest woman.
