Weekend update
On the roads there were superb performances especially by the top British women. Eilish McColgan continued her purple patch with an awesome display at the Great South 10 mile event with a UK best performance eclipsing Paula Radcliffe’s previous best time. Laura Inglis was in sub 32-minute 10k form and another Scottish star, Adam Craig ran a sub 29-minute 10k in Knutsford.
Eilish McColgan (handicap -4.1) with the Great South Run performance of 50:43, beat Paula Radcliffe’s British Record by 28 seconds and Sonia O’Sullivan’s 2002 course record by 17 seconds. Fellow Olympian, Jess Piasecki (handicap -2.6) was second in 51:50 putting her fourth on the runbritain all-time list, with Verity Ockenden (handicap -2.6) next with 54:07.
In the men’s race, Jack Rowe (handicap -6.9) was first with 47:20, ahead of Emile Cairess (handicap -6.7) 18 seconds behind. Daniel Jarvis (handicap -5.7) with 48:48 was next.
Almost as impressive was Scottish triplet, Laura Inglis in winning the Canadian 10k Championship race in a mouth watering 31:59! On an out and back course Inglis took advantage of the return tailwind to clock a second half spit of around 15:40.
Poppy Tank (handicap -1.6) had a breakthrough 10k run of 33:44 in the Boston 10k on the East coast of America.
Adam Craig (handicap -6.1) with a solo 28:53 and Kadar Omar (handicap -5.4) 29:14 were impressive in Cheshire at different venues.
Craig took the win half a mile ahead of second place in the Knutsford 10k while Omar was winning at the Warrington venue of Arley Hall with 29:14 ahead of Alex Brown (handicap -4.7) in 29:42.
At the Amsderdam half marathon, 20 year old Matthew Neil (handicap -3.6) impressed with a 66:43 performance to take third place. Over the full distance Max McNeill (handicap -2.0) ran a PB of 2:21:19.
