Weekend update

The parkrun is again becoming a regular weekend routine for many of the runbritain community. Most parkruns are back on Saturdays and Sundays for adults (5k) and juniors (3k). This weekend, the fastest 5k runs were at Bushy Park for men and Newcastle under Lyme for women. The Big Half featured some of the best British runners including Jake Smith (pictured), although some also turned out in the Podium 5k with winning times of 13:45 and 16:14.
Kate Holt (handicap -1.0) ran a storming 15:55 at the Wammy parkrun in Newcastle under Lyme in the Potteries over the weekend. Nicole Taylor (handicap -0.9) was the second fastest parkrun woman with 16:14 at the Tonbridge parkrun. Jake Shelley (handicap -5.0) was the fastest named finisher at Bushy Park with 14:43.
AT the Big Half in London, Jake Smith (handicap -6.8) pushed on to a 62:06 win from Jack Rowe (handicap -6.7) who ran 62:11. Behind these were impressive performances from Mo Aadan (handicap -6.4) and Phil Sesemann (handicap -6.1) with 62:28 and 62:47 respectively.
The televised women’s race was a great event that saw Samantha Harrison (handicap -2.0) setting the pace in the first part before Charlotte Purdue (handicap -2.9) pushed ahead to a course record of 69:51. Harrison closed in with a very impressive 70:39 for second place, while Natasha Cockram (handicap -1.4) was next in with 72:46.
There were tremendous performances at the University Podium 5k where USA scholarship runner Adam Fogg (handicap -6.1) burnt away the purple patch performing Loughborough 13:28 track runner, Tom Mortimer (handicap -6.3). The final outcome was a decisive victory to Fogg with 13:45 ahead of Mortimer’s 13:50.
Leeds based mathematician, Georgia Malir (handicap 0.4) was in peak form with a PB of 16:14 ahead of Lauren McNeil (handicap 0.9) with 16:18. Elle Twentyman (handicap 1.2) was third with 16:29.
