Weekend update: 5000m indoor record for Marc Scott

Marc Scott (handicap -6.2) ran a stunning European indoor 5000m record at the Boston University Last Chance Invitational. Not only did he set a British and English indoor record, but a European indoor record too! Scott ran in a high-quality field finishing in 2nd place in a fantastic 13:08.87 beating Mo Farah’s (handicap -6.4) previous record.
James West (handicap -5.7) added some excitement to his Olympic year with a stunning 1500mi run of 3:36.93 after an earlier 1:48.67 800 performance. Chris O'Hare (handicap -5.4) was also impressive with a slightly faster 3:36.40.
Holly Archer (handicap -0.5) was also in Boston and stormed round the 1500m where she ran a fantastic PB of 4:13.62.
In the women’s 5000m Amy-Eloise Neale (handicap -1.2) ran 15:32.72.
The Trafford 10k again attracted a top class field and taking home the popular win for the women was Jessica Judd (handicap -1.9) who clocked a 32:16 PB, just one week after her silver medal at the National XC championships. Chasing her home was the Manchester based Scot, Eilish McColgan (handicap -3.2) in 32:25. Bronwen Owen (handicap -0.8) set an expected PB of 33:30, after her recent rich vein of form to complete a multi national podium of English, Scottish and Welsh runners.
After winning the Welsh National Cross Country Championships last weekend, James Hunt (handicap -5.2) continued his rich vein of form with a convincing half-minute win with 29:44 in tough conditions. Chasing him home was renowned marathoner and fellow Welshman Andrew Davies (handicap -5.0), who recently took the M40 marathon record from Steven Way (handicap -0.2) with 2:14:36 in December. Another Welshman, Rowan Axe (handicap -3.5), completed the men’s podium, just 2 seconds behind Davies.
