The Walled City Marathon was the first marathon in Derry for almost 30 years, and yet the winner got himself a hat-trick as he also won the Derry Marathon in 1984 and 1985! Tommy Hughes finished first in 2:30:32 and took a huge 0.9 off his handicap score, which now stands at MINUS 1.5. The first woman was Jacqui Boyle in 3:14:15. The race passed many of the city's landmarks including the Peace Bridge at 21 miles.

The Lancashire Pennine 10k was held in Burnley and organised by the Jane Tomlinson's Run For All Events. There was a Pennine - Lancashire 10k held in Blackburn in 2010 but this was the first time it has been held in Burnley. This also took the runners past landmarks in the town including Towneley Hall and Burnley FC's Turf Moor ground. The winner was Tarus Elly in 32:29 and first woman was Laura Hesketh in 42:05.
