Boxing Day appears to have had the biggest turnout with runners all over the United Kingdom running off the excesses of Christmas Day!

The Greencastle 5 took place on Boxing Day in Country Tyrone, Northern Ireland and the runners were sent off on the five mile route with an impressive firework display. Both the men's and women's winners ran clear of the rest of the field. Paul Pollock (handicap -3.1) was first across the line in 24:24 and Ann Marie McGlynn (handicap 0.6) set a new course record and personal best time with 27:59.

Meanwhile, in Yorkshire, where the rain had turned the roads into rivers, runners turned out in force for the annual Chevin Chase 7 miler. The top two places went to Londoners, John Franklin (handicap -2.8), who took 0.2 from his handicap score and Phillip Tedd (handicap -1.0) who took 0.4 from his score for their times of 40:40 and 41:33 respectively. Georgia Malir (handicap 1.5) won the women's race in 45:45 and knocked 0.3 from her score and Hannah Brown (handicap 2.4) finished 2nd in 47:54.

The Boxing Day Bushy Park parkrun attracted 729 runners from 62 different athletics clubs. Times were impressive with 42 personal bests and many reduced handicap scores.
