Grant Harradence was first home at the Milton Keynes NSPCC Half Marathon with a tremendous run that took 0.8 off his handicap score to an all-time low of 0.9. His time of 79:39, taking him under the 80 minute barrier for the first time, was run on a relativey difficult course with an SSS of 3.3 (the higher the SSS score the harder the course or conditions). His vSSS of MINUS 2.4 illustrates how he ran very well in comparison to the others in the race. If a runner is in the MINUS figures they have run better than the average runner on the day and the higher the score the less impressive the performance in comparison to the rest of the field.

Lauren Stewart was the first woman home and she also lowered her handicap score from 3.5 to 3.2 for her time of 86:06. She was also in the MINUS figures for her vSSS with MINUS 0.4. Lauren has run a faster half marathon this year with 80:56 at Reading where the SSS was only 0.3 but her run at Milton Keynes was worth a lower handicap score!

Well done to all who raced this weekend. If you haven't yet signed up for July's Reward Running don't delay! With only the first weekend gone in July, there are three more to make a difference to your handicap score and be rewarded for your training and racing efforts!
