Paralympic Champion, Ellie Simmonds, sent the runners on their way at the BUPA Great Birmingham Half Marathon yesterday in, what is now, Britain's second biggest half marathon after the Great North Run. The race attracted runners of all levels and abilities, many of whom were raising money for worthy causes. The promised rain stayed away helping them on their way to great performances in terms of running times and monies raised.

The Yorkshire Marathon, organised by Jane Tomlinson's Run For All, is expected to raise £1.3 million for charities. This inaugural race started and finished at the University of York and took the runners inside the city walls and past iconic landmarks including the spectacular York Minster.

Congratulations to all who ran this weekend. How is your handicap score doing? Don't forget that you can still enter Reward Running and have all of your results from races in October count towards your score at the end of this month. There is only one more weekend to go!
