At the Cardiff 10k, Martin Rees completed the course six seconds faster than he ran the Bristol 10k in May and, once again, set a world record in the M60 category. His time of 32:48 is 23 seconds faster than his time on the same course last year. Turning 60 and moving into a new category has clearly inspired him and, since last year, his handicap score has moved below scratch and currently stands at MINUS 1.3. He is the only runner over 55 to be below scratch. He is now planning to run the 5th race in the runbritain Grand Prix at the  Cardiff Half Marathon with the aim of bettering his own M60 half marathon record that he set at the Bath Half Marathon in March.

At the Middlesborough Tees Pride 10k, Wondiye Fikre Indelbu dropped his handicap score by 0.2. Wondiye won silver in the T46 men's 1500m at the Paralympics last September when he was running for Ethiopia. He moved to Teeside to seek asylum and shortly afterwards and, in October, he registered his first score on the runbritain handicap scoring system at the Albert parkrun where he is a regular. His first score was 1.9 but he has steadily chipped away at it and it now stands at MINUS 3.6. He had to settle for 3rd yesterday in a thrilling finish that saw the first three finish within one second of each other.
Rosie Smith was the first female runner home and her time of 33:49 took 0.5 off her handicap score to give her 1.0.

The runners at the Wigan 10k were treated to a tremendous atmosphere as it seemed the whole town turned out to see Sir Bradley Wiggins start the race in brilliant sunshine.

Bushy Park parkrun hit four figures again this weekend although it didn't quite reach the record levels (1051) that the organisers had expected.

Well done to everyone who raced this weekend. Don't forget to enter this month's Reward Running and turn those great results into adidas or Sennheiser prizes!
