Waves of PBs at Telford 10k

Telford wave 1 2019
With such a poplar event, the Telford 10k had three waves of eager runners on the town centre course around the local lake. The first saw Adam Craig front run an awesome PB of 28:32. Samantha Harrison also made new ground in Wave 2 of the 10k festival in Shropshire with her 32:31 PB.

With a narrow start, many set off fast at Telford but by 5k there were just two frontrunners - Adam Craig  (handicap -5.2 ) and Omar Ahmed (handicap -6.4 ) who went through the halfway point in 14:05 The chasing group of 10+ runners came through15 seconds behind.

In the final 600m Adam Craig pulled a way to increase his lead to 30 metres and put himself 4th on the 2019 runbritain rankings.  A total of five men dipped below 29 mintes (chip timing) with 17 below the half hour mark including U23 athletes Gus Cockle (handicap  -4.5) and Tom Mortimer (handicap -4.8) who ran 29:46 and 29:48 respectively (chip times).

Samantha Harrison (handicap -1.3) also front ran much of the women's event in 32:31 (chip time) followed closely by Dani Chattenton (handicap -0.3) who updated her PB to 32:36. Third place went to Welsh athlete Clara Evans (handicap -0.7)  in 33:07, also a PB. With times that would normally secure you a podium spot, Lauren Hall (handicap 0.3) ran a PB of 33:11 in 4th and City of Stoke’s Kate Holt (handicap 0.0) finished just behind in 33:15 on her 10k debut.
