The Running Festival at Goodwood, #RunFestGoodwood, took place recently and saw hundreds of runners, families, running clubs and communities take on three superb races at the iconic Goodwood Motor Circuit.
Many club vests were seen in the running crowd and on the podium for both the 10K and the Half Marathon, including Chichester Runners &AC, Portsmouth Joggers, Bognor Regis Tone Zone Runners, Devizes Running Club, Victory AC, Tonbridge AC and Hercules Wimbledon AC.
Runners were faced with challenging weather conditions, including some heavy downpours and head wind, and some reported ‘raw conditions’ out on course.
It remained dry for the Family Mile, which kicked things off at 9am and saw runners as young as four complete a mile on the track and earn t5heir medal.
The 10K took place at 10am and the Half Marathon set off at midday, giving each race its own individual send-off and finish experience. Supporters had also turned out in good numbers despite the weather and were cheering from the grandstand as the competitors made their way round the historic race track before finishing in the pit lane. There was a lot of excitement for the separate waves of Run Mummy Run women, who created a colourful sea of kit out on the race track and had lots of friends and family there to cheer and volunteer.
Throughout the day the Pop Up Pit Shops proved to be extremely popular, with visitors welcoming the chance to chat to the experts and pick up gear and accessories from well-known brands. The event village also saw lots of activity, with Official Charity Partner RNLI launching its annual Reindeer Runs, the pacing team out and about chatting to runners, and many making the most of the free pre and post-race massage on offer.

UK Run Events delivered a first-class range of prizes, with the top three men and women in the 10K and half marathon each receiving a trophy, Runderwear and Up & Running vouchers. There were also Up & Running vouchers for all age category winners.
The race was praised by many present on the day for its professional organisation and friendly atmosphere, as well as its commitment to provide cartons of One Water at the finish line in a move to be more environmentally-conscious. Organisers UK Run Events put on a fantastic race-themed experience for everyone and the whole day proved to be a magnificent end-of-season running celebration.
Race Director Joe Williams commented, “We are thrilled with the turnout for The Running Festival at Goodwood #RunFestGoodwood and would like to congratulate every single runner who crossed the finish line at the inaugural event. Today has proved what runners are made of and how strong their minds are, undeterred by tough weather conditions and determined to earn that medal! A big well done to everyone!”
Co-Director Rebecca Richardson added:“Today made for a superb day of running and achievement in a truly iconic setting, congratulations to all the runners in the Family Mile, 10K and Half Marathon.
