The nights are light and the running is easy!

Anglesey Coastal Path

In another month's time, we will be treated to the longest day of the year. It's time to make the most of the lighter evenings and opportunities to train in the light. Here we bring ideas, advice and guidance for running activity this summer.

Pick and mix your surfaces

Most runners take part in events that are run predominantly on the road and, whilst this is great for fast times, it is about the least forgiving of all surfaces so even if you are training for a road race it is advisable to vary the terrain that you run on and this is the perfect time of year to do it! Fartlek or speed play

Fartlek training literally means 'speed play' in Swedish, which is where it originated. This training technique was employed by Gosta Holmer, coach to world record holders Gunder Haag and Arne Anderson as he worked to increase their leg-turnover and speed-endurance. Summer is the perfect time of year to work on your speed. For more click here.

Oxygen Rich Air
