The Lindsays Virtual 3k Challenge

The Lindsays Virtual Road Challenge proved hugely popular recently with runners across Scotland and beyond last week. Some of the age group winners included Jonny Glen, Jamie Crowe and Alastair Walker (pictured) for men. Top women runners included Rebecca Johnson and U20 Orienteer, Megan Keith.
More than 1000 performances were logged for the scottishathletics Virtual 3k runs. Younger athletes raced over shorter distances.It was a celebration of clubs engaging in the Virtual Road Challenge with both track performances and organised group runs being permitted.
One of the next key events in Scotland are the Lindsays Short Course XC which are planned for the weekend of December 5th and 6th.
The overall quality in the Lindsays Virtual Road Challenge was very impressive on many levels. The fastest were from Jamie Crowe (handicap -6.2) and Jonny Glen (handicap -5.8), led the way again with both coming in timed at 8:15 at the top of our leaderboard. James Donald (handicap -4.6) was next fastest with 8:19.
The top six were completed with three running 8:20, Aidan Thompson (handicap -3.4), Alastair Hay (handicap -4.7) and the fastest junior U20, Ben MacMillan (handicap -3.7).
The women’s times were headed by Rebecca Johnson (handicap 0.8) with 9:29 followed the rising junior U20 star from orienteering, Megan Keith (handicap 0.0) at 9:30 and Sarah Calvert (handicap 1.8) at 9:32 and Annabel Simpson (handicap -0.4) at 9:36.
In the Masters categories, there were leading times as follows: M50 Stephen Allen (handicap 0.2) at 9:32 and W50 Ana Richardson (handicap 5.0) at 11:41; M60 Alastair Walker (handicap 1.1) 10:12 and W60 Jennie Jackson (handicap 10.4) at 12:53.
