Take a leaf out of Mo's book and work on your speed

On Friday night Mo Farah surprised himself and many others when he set a new British and European 1500m record whilst using the race for 'speed work' as he prepares for the 5000m and 10000m at the World Championships next month.
How would you get on if you stepped down from your usual distance? Would you find speed that you didn't know you had or maybe it would help to develop your speed so that you can find an extra gear or a great finish in the longer distances.
Mo is a great role model for all of us. Rather than churning out the same training sessions and races it's time to add a little zip to your running and you may also find yourself a new event. After all, if you are going to run a faster marathon you need to be able to improve your half marathon time, if you are going to improve your half marathon you need to improve your 10k time and if you're going to improve your 10k time you need to speed up those 5ks!
Our Sennheiser Training Zone is bulging with advice on what to do and how to do it and there is a section dedicated to speeding you up! The runfaster section has heaps of advice and ideas on how to improve leg speed, use traditional training methods such as fartlek and repetition training and has training programmes to lower your marathon, half marathon, 10k and 5k times.
It's time to inspired by the leader of our runbritain handicap ladder to quicken your pace and produce more speed and power!
