Surrey's largest closed-road 5km

With the aim of inspiring more people to start running and get involved with the event, the Mercer Surrey Half Marathon are delivering a brand new 5km run at 8am on 12th March 2017.
The Mercer Surrey Half Marathon organisers are excited to motivate and reward new runners who stick to their “2017 resolutions” with the addition of this fantastic event, as well as appeal to seasoned short and middle-distance runners.
Starting an hour before the half marathon, 5km runners will start under the main half-marathon gantry and follow their very own lead BMW I3 car, supplied by sponsors BMW Vines, out on their 3 mile route.
The course is flat and fast, and features some of the best bits of the half marathon. As one of the only closed-road 5k’s available, the event is expected to be the biggest of it’s kind. Runners will enjoy:
- Full road closures, fully marked route and professional organisation
- Chip timing
- Lead BMW electric car
- Fast, flat course featuring some of the best bits of the half marathon route
- Fantastic atmosphere, cheering spectators and live music
- Large gold medal
- Free head/neck warmer
- Access to local discounts
The Mercer Surrey Half Marathon boasts UKA affiliation, is listed as a “must do event” on the most popular running channels, and has recently been crowned with the accolade of: The UK’s Best Road Run.
We’re very excited to see what the 5km brings…
