Are you ready for second runbritain 2013 Grand Prix?

runbristol

The Bristol 10k is on Sunday 5 May (bank holiday weekend) has attracted another impressive line-up in this, the second runbritain Grand Prix Event, starting on Anchor Road at 9.30 am.

In the men's race marathon specialist, Dave Webb, (handicap MINUS 3.8) is currently top of the Grand Prix scoreboard after winning the Mizuno Reading Half Marathon and earning himself 250 points. He will need to put in an outstanding performance to stay 'top dog' in Bristol. Frank Tickner (handicap MINUS 1.4) from Wells Harriers has had an excellent winter over cross-country terrain, as has Shaun Dixon (handicap MINUS 3.5), but the experience of track and road specialists such as Michael Skinner (handicap MINU 3.4) and Matthew Barnes (handicap MINUS 3.3) makes it difficult to predict how the ladder will stand after this second race. Local starts include Rob Bugden (handicap MINUS 2.6) and Phil Wylie (handicap MINUS 3.1) who will look to establish their credentials further as they race along the roads that meander close to the river Avon and underneath the magnificent and historical Clifton Suspension Bridge.

In the women's race, Gemma Steel (handicap MINUS 0.5) looks like the in-form athlete to beat but there are plenty of other women who could challenge her. Both Hatti Archer (handicap 7.3) and Katrina Wootton (handicap MINUS 0.2) have shown the kind of pedigree that could win this event and they will be respected as they toe the line in Bristol. Steph Barnes (handicap 3.4) has also shown that, at her best, she can make domestic podiums as has the improving Emma Clayton (handicap 1.8).

Will you make the top 250 and get yourself 'un point' on the Grand Prix scoreboard? Last year 42:27, at the Admiral Swansea Bay 10k,  was enough for  Phillip Cushion  whilst Katrina Harper's 52:52 got her onto the scoreboard.

For those of you hoping to run super-fast details of bonus points are available here.
