Skinner and Wicks lead GP with one race to go

With just one race to go in the 2012 runbritain Grand Prix - this Sunday's Perkins Great Eastern Run (14 October) in Peterborough - Mike Skinner and Emily Wicks head the standings.
However, with an athlete's best four performances from the five Grand Prix events counting towards their final total, coupled with a strong British entry list for the fast half marathon which doubles up as the UK Half Marathon Championships (and three to score club competition for men and women), the £3000 first place prize fund (for both men and women) is still all to play for.
Skinner leads the men's competition with 843 points, but could still be beaten into second by Martin Williams, currently in second with 721 points, with both athletes expected to run.
Hugh Torry, in third with 663 points from three events, is also entered and is in a strong position to finish on the Grand Prix podium, as is Jon Pepper, who, in spite of having just 482 points* in ninth place, could still move into the Grand Prix top three where British-only prize money is allocated as £3000 for first in each of the men's and women's sections, £1500 for second and £1000 for third, down to £100 for tenth place overall.
Three of the current women's top four are entered for Sunday's race, although with four events already to her credit, current leader Emily Wicks has limited potential to further extend her leading score of 986 points.
Getenesh Tamirat, currently in third place with 745 points from three events, most recently courtesy of her second-placed-Brit finish in Bristol, could, on paper, still move into pole position but to do so, would have to win the race.
Andrea Whitcombe, with 739 points from three events and currently in fourth after finishing fifth Brit in Bristol, could also move into the top three with a winning performance in Peterborough.
The current runbritain Grand Prix standings are available in full in the dedicated section on the runbritain website while video of footage from event one (the Mizuno Reading Half Marathon) and event four (the Bristol Half Marathon) can be found on runbritain TV and via YouTube.
