This time Mo Farah was in the Djibouti International Half-Marathon and proved a popular winner ahead of an international field. Victory at the inaugural Djibouti International Half-Marathon gave the Olympic champion a successful start to his 2021 campaign.

Sir Mo Farah (handicap -7.1) got his 2021 racing schedule off to a winning start with a clear victory in the inaugural Djibouti International Half-Marathon in Africa. His last race was at the Antrim Coast Half Marathon in the autumn, where he won in 60:27 ahead of Marc Scott (handicap -7.3), Ben Connor (handicap -7.0) and Stephen Scullion (handicap -6.7).

37-year old, Farah was keen to test himself following a training block at his Ethiopian training base as he targets another Olympic medal in Tokyo. In a controlled 63:07 Farah ran clear of his Belgium training partner, Bashir Abdi, by four seconds. Bashir Abdi is the World 20km record holder. Local athlete, Moumin Bouh, finished 3rd in 64:06 with Sweden's David Nilsson crossing the line with the same time and being declared as 4th. Locals Jamal Dirieh and Mouhyadin Abdi Waiss completed the top six with 64:22 and 64:37 respectively.
