Sign up for fifth race in the Grand Prix

Cardiff Half Marathon

Places are filling up fast for this year’s Lloyds Bank Cardiff Half Marathon, that is the fifth race in the runbritain Grand Prix, but there is still time to sign up for one of the UK’s premier races which takes place on Sunday 5th October 2014.

Over the last decade the Lloyds Bank Cardiff Half Marathon has firmly established itself as one of the biggest and best half marathons in the UK, with more than 20,000 runners expected to sign up for this year’s event.

With its fast and flat course around the Welsh capital the route passes the world famous Millennium Stadium, the iconic Cardiff Castle, through the stunning Cardiff Bay area of the city before a grandstand finish outside the £22.5m Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

Last year’s race saw the Lloyds Bank Cardiff Half Marathon host the British Half Marathon Championships for the first time and also a new course record as Kenyan runner Lentaknai Lengurisi clocked 61 minutes and 51 seconds.

The three British men on the podium; Nick Torry (handicap -5.2) who was the eventual winner of the men's 2013 Grand Prix, Ben Livesey (handicap -4.6) and Dewi Griffiths (handicap -5.5) all took advantage of the lightening quick course to post new personal best times in Cardiff last October. Likewise, the two fastest women ran super-fast times: Tish Jones (handicap -1.2) who eventually finished 2nd in the Grand Prix and Jessica Parry-Williams (handicap 1.7) Claire Jacobs (handicap 4.5) who eventually finished 5th overall, set her lifetime best as she came home in third at Cardiff.
