The organisers of the ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon have issued a reminder for all runners who want to be on the start line next April to sign up and secure their place before the end of September in order to benefit from the reduced early bird entry fees.
The ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon 2015 takes place on Sunday 19th April and is the UK’s Flattest, Fastest and Friendliest Marathon. It is one of the flattest marathons in the world with only 54m elevation gain, which makes it perfect for first time marathoners and those seeking a PB or qualifying time.
The ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon starts and finishes near Manchester United Football Club in Old Trafford, with a total of 12,500 places availablefor 2015.Runners who don’t want to cover the full marathon distance can sign up for the 2 Leg Half/Half, the 4 Leg Team Relay or the Corporate Relay Entry sponsored by MLP Solicitors.
Early bird placescost £43 for affiliated runners, and £45 for unaffiliated runners and wheelchair entries. The early bird entry fees for the 2 Leg Half/Half are £75 per team and £120 for the 4 Leg Team Relay. All finishers receive a medal and ASICS technical t-shirt. The entry fees will increase from 1st October.
As introduced in 2014, the race will offer a British-only prize fund again for 2015 plus three time bonuses available to UK registered runners only. In 2014 the first four men all broke the 2hr 20min mark, and both Andi Jones (handicap MINUS 5.1) and Emily Wicks (handicap MINUS 0.1) set new course records in 2:16:59 and 2:38:26.
The top ten British athletes will be eligible for cash prizes and the organisers have put up three time bonuses, awarding £10,000 to the first male British athlete who finishes under 2:10 (hh:mm) and the first female British athlete who finishes under 2:20 (hh:mm). The first placed British athlete completing the race in under 2:15 (male) or 2:25 (female) can claim a £3,000 time bonus, and a bonus of £500 has been put up for every British runner who crosses the finish line under 2:20 (male) and under 2:30 (female). There is one £10,000 and one £3,000 time bonus per gender and time bonuses are not cumulative but in addition to the cash prize fund.
Race Director Simon Hill commented:“Places to the ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon have been going fast and anyone thinking about signing up should do so before the end of the month in order to benefit from the early bird entry fees. The British-only prize fund and the time bonuses are guaranteed to attract a top quality field to Manchester in April, and it’s also the perfect course for beginners, charity runners and athletes seeking a PB or qualifying time.”
