Scottish Athletics 4J Studios Virtual Challenge

There has been another great response from the endurance community to Scottish Athletics latest 4J Studios Virtual Challenge. The Club Distance 2 Challenge gave an option to solo run over 15 minutes or 30 minutes and then submit the distance covered in kilometres.
Athletes were competing in some far-flung locations with Kim Timmins (handicap 5.8) running in Holland and many more across the length and breadth of Scotland. With over 700 athletes posting their distances after a wonderfully warm weekend, picking a time of day when conditions were not too warm may have proved an issue.
The 30 minute run drew some of Scotland's top runners with Ryan Thomson (handicap -4.6) and Jenny Bannerman (handicap 0.4) of Inverness (pictured here) positioning themselves at the top the individual leaderboards. Ryan was very close to 10k with a run of 9.92k and Jenny covered 8.55k.
Cameron Watson (handicap -2.4) of Inverclyde AC and Michael Christoforou (handicap -4.3) were also prominent in the male division whilst the women’s top three was completed by Jenn Wetton (handicap 1.7) of Central AC and Kristin Lownie (handicap 4.0) of PH Racing.
Thanks to all the volunteer endurance officials who are helping staff to scrutinise performances in the Virtual Challenges. That support is helping to get the results out quickly with each Challenge featuring a number of categories. Thanks to all athletes involved in running solo and sticking to the government guidelines on social distancing as well as observing a few rules put in place by Scottish Athletics to give each event consistent processes.
