Santa Run raises more than £60K for charities

The Rotary Club of Lincoln Colonia are sending out a huge "thank you" to all the runners and walkers that helped to raise a massive £63,162 for the official charities of the 2012 Siemens Santa Fun Run and Walk.
Due to success of the ‘raise £20.11’ campaign in 2011 the concept was relaunched for 2012 where every competitor was encouraged to run or walk and raise £20.12 for the official charities. Providing participants with this simple and memorable fundraising target proved successful again as more runners than ever before returned money.
In addition, the event continued with The Elf & Fitness Newsletter, a weekly e-newsletter that the runners could click onto and read interesting articles and information about the charities and the event.
Originally devised in 2011, the newsletter proved to be very popular and so 21 issues were sent out before and after the event.
New for 2012 was a giant Santa that stood 33ft tall and whose presence added to the already vibrant atmosphere.
Well done to all who took part and helped raise that impressive total. The 2013 event will be held on Sunday 15th December.
