Ryston Runners GEARing up for training sessions

Ryston Runners AC are once again offering a series of free training sessions for anyone wishing to get prepared for the Bespak Grand East Anglia Run.
Each of the weekly sessions will be led by British Athletics qualified coaches and will be on Wednesdays between 7 and 8 pm at Alive Lynnsport, starting on 2 March and running through to 23 March.
Aimed at beginners and improvers wanting to enter the Bespak Grand East Anglia Run, the sessions will include track work, practice runs and practical advice about equipment, techniques and what to wear, helping runners to prepare for race day on Sunday, 1 May.
Alive Leisure Race Director Roger Partridge said: "These ever-popular sessions are designed to help people who are taking part in competitive running for the first time or for people who are looking to improve their techniques. The feedback from the sessions is excellent and the training evenings have become a popular element of the whole event."
Gareth Hunt, Chair of Ryston Runners, added: "Good preparation is the key to success in any race. These sessions are free of charge and suitable for complete beginners as well as regular runners and we welcome everyone. Whatever level you are running at, the sessions will be fun and everyone will come away with some great tips."
There is no charge and no need to register, just turn up at Alive Lynnsport on the night and report to reception. Participants should attend in usual running kit. Changing rooms and toilets are available at Alive Lynnsport.
To support the training evenings there is also a training plan, designed by former Olympian Paul Evans, on the Bespak GEAR website http://www.grandeastangliarun.co.uk. Alternatively joining the Park Run in The Walks every Saturday is another great way to prepare for the race - register at http://www.parkrun.org.uk/kingslynn/.
The Bespak Grand East Anglia Run takes place on Sunday, 1 May 2016, with the main 10k race starting at 10.45am in the Tuesday Market Place in King's Lynn, and the mini GEAR fun run starting at 10am. The fast, flat course takes runners on a loop through the town centre, through The Walks and along the waterfront, showcasing some of the town's key heritage and retail areas.
The course is suitable for runners of all abilities, including wheelchair athletes.
The Bespak GEAR is a UKA and BARR Gold-Graded event. The cost of entry is £18 for affiliated runners and £20 for unaffiliated runners. To enter, runners must be aged 15 or over on race day.
