Weekend road round-up

Dewi Griffiths Swansea Half

The weekend round-up of results highlighted some impressive running across the country. Dewi Griffiths and Hayley Carruthers were the top parkrun performers and Tom Cornthwaite had a return to top form with a 50-minute 10 mile win in the Brampton to Carlisle classic. 

parkruns were on fire over the weekend with the fastest of them in South Wales in Llanelli Coast parkrun, where Dewi Griffiths (handicap -6.1) flew round in 14:12. Hayley Carruthers (handicap -0.7) was inspired too as she parked a tasty time of 16:24 at the Walsall Arboretum parkrun.

The Brampton to Carlisle 10 (Inc Northern Athletics Championships) had the weather on its side as Tom Cornthwaite (handicap -3.5) and Aly Dixon (handicap 0.3) took top honours in 50:13 and 55:01 respectively.  

The Conwy Half Marathon in North Wales saw a significant field led home by Gwyn Owen (handicap 12.9), in the picturesque coastal setting of castles and beaches.  Adam Clarke (handicap -3.8), was the Brighton 10k winner in 30:24 with Beth Kidger (handicap 0.3),  winning the women's event in 34:35. Chris Rainsford (handicap -4.1), and Juliet Potter (handicap 0.9),  were in top form at the Matthew Walker Heanor 10k
