Road race organisers - Traffic Management course and refresher course

RTM course

The Road Traffic Management course is suitable for all Event Organisers and Event Marshals, both in the commercial and voluntary sectors, and particularly those involved with road races. It is a one-day course that will equip delegates with sufficient information and knowledge to safely direct traffic movements at events.

The Road Traffic Management course is for anyone considering undertaking the role of Traffic Management Operative (TMO) as part of their involvement in a road race. The course will train you to understand how to deal with road closures and diversions. You must be trained to do this to be covered by insurance and to satisfy local authorities that events will be managed properly.

There is a subsidised cost of £70 for applicants who are affiliated to England Athletics or a cost of £140 for those who are not affiliated.

(The Chapter 8 Traffic Management course does not deal with the application process of a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (TTRO) and what is expected from the applicant. This aspect of race organising is dealt with by Race Director courses delivered by runbritain.)

As a result of attending this course successful candidates will gain a national award through the NCFE (www.ncfe.org.uk) and each delegate will receive a certificate on completion of the course. In addition, UK Athletics insurers have underwritten the training.
