Registrations now open for final event in Grand Prix

Places are now available for Age UK’s Leeds Abbey Dash 2013. The event will see runners of all ages and abilities take over the streets of Leeds city centre on Sunday 17th November to help raise vital funds that will help make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable older people.

Now in its 29th year, the Dash is popular with fun-runners, celebrities and elite athletes alike. It is set to be even more popular this year because it’s been picked as the final event in our prestigious runbritain Grand Prix series. The Dash has been chosen as one of six events to be part of the series and is the first charity event to ever be included due its fast, flat and professional course.

Participants who sign up to the Leeds Abbey Dash will be raising funds for Age UK’s annual Spread the Warmth campaign, which helps hundreds of thousands of older people keep warm and well during the colder months.

Lydia Curran, Senior Events Manager at Age UK is calling on as many people as possible to sign up to the 10k challenge and raise vital funds for Age UK: She said: “This year is such an exciting year for everyone taking part in the Leeds Abbey Dash. Being chosen as a runbritain Grand Prix event means that the Dash will be one of our biggest yet. We look forward to seeing as many runners as possible at the start line, from first time fun runners to elite athletes. Signing up now and training for the Dash through the summer is a great way to keep active and healthy whilst also raising money for a very worthy cause – helping older people stay warm and well in difficult winter months.”

Age UK is now calling on first-time runners as well as experienced runners to sign up.
