Record sell out for Brighton Half Marathon 2013

Organisers of the Brighton Half Marathon, which takes place on Sunday 17 February 2013, have announced that the race sold out at last weeked (Sunday 30 September) with all 10,500 places now allocated.
It was previously announced that places had been selling faster than ever before, and with a record number of 5,500 registrations taken in September alone, the race proved its ever growing popularity. After a sell out of 8,000 places for the Brighton Half Marathon 2011 and an increased number of 10,500 places for the 2012 race, the 2013 race sold out in record time with all places gone by the end of September.
The only way runners can now enter the iconic race on the south coast is through one of the associated charities, which include The Sussex Beacon, WaterAid, Rise, Macmillan, Teenage Cancer Trust, Rockinghorse, Shelter, Brighton Housing Trust and Family Helpline. Please go to www.brightonhalfmarathon.com/charities for further details on charity places.
Event Manager Paul Bond said: "We are pleased, that in what has been a record year for sport in general, the Brighton Half Marathon has had an incredibly successful year too with a sell out in record time. Limited charities places are still available but we would urge anyone who hasn’t signed up yet to get in touch with their chosen charity as soon as possible in order to secure their place."
The organisers have also seen an increased number of people wanting to get involved through volunteering and details about how to apply for one of the many volunteer roles can be found in the volunteers section of the event website.
The Brighton Half Marathon, now in its 23rd year, is not only one of the longest established and most popular seafront road race events in the UK but also the first major half marathon of the new year, perfectly suited as a warm up for all the spring marathons.
Partners confirmed so far for 2013 include Brooks, Sweatshop, Garmin, Lucozade, The Seattle Hotel, Visit Brighton, Brighton & Hove City Council, Studio57 Clinic and Virgin Money Giving.
