Record numbers Run the World

Brighton Run the World

More children than ever before took part in Run the World that is organised by Grounded Events, the team that brings the highly successful Brighton Marathon Weekend to the calendar each year. This year the event produced a record total of 7,582 children covering a kilometre.

The event takes place over three days and 42 enthusiastic schools – another record - made it a week to remember with each day enjoying bright sunshine.

Run the World is designed to get children out of the classroom and into the fresh air, encouraging an active lifestyle. Now in its fourth year, Run the World is taking the children on a virtual round the world odyssey and, after reaching Hanoi in year three, they are now well on their way to Sydney. The children, aged 7 - 11 have the opportunity to run 1km and contribute towards a big overall total of kilometres.

The event was sponsored by Southern Water and Brighton and Hove Public Health.

Run the World, which is free of charge, serves as a taster for the Mini Mile Races which take place the day before the Brighton Marathon and are open to all schoolchildren between the ages of seven and 17.
