Record-breaking runner hopes to set new record for running ten marathons in ten days

Adam Holland aims to break world record

Next Friday (9 May) sees the start of a ten day attempt by a world record-breaking runner to shatter another record.

Twenty-seven year old long distance runner Adam Holland (handicap 1.4) wants to become the first person to complete ten marathons, over ten consecutive days in under three hours each. To do so he also needs to raise £3,000 for the Brathay Trust, a charity that works with vulnerable young people.

So far local people and businesses have donated £2,122.40 to Adam’s justgiving page http://www.justgiving.com/tango10marathons. Adam is hoping more people will support him as he runs so he can reach his target. He is also hoping that well-wishers will send him motivational tweets via his twitter account @tango5tavy using #team10in10.

As Adam explains: “My training regime is a bit unconventional as my only running practice is to take part in other races. I think I am in with a chance of doing each marathon in under three hours and I am looking forward to it.”

Jon Owner, race director at the Brathay Trust said: “Adam is very modest and understated. He is a determined, focused and natural runner who seems to breeze across the finish line. This will be his third 10 in 10 and we are looking forward to welcoming him back and supporting him in what we hope will be a new record set by a remarkable man. We appreciate all the support local people have given Adam to help him fundraise.”

Adam Holland is the youngest person to run 100 marathons and also holds the word record for being the youngest and fastest person to run 10 marathons in 10 days. He now wants to beat his own record by returning once again to run in the Brathay ten in ten between Friday 9th and Sunday 18th May. He is one of 15 runners picked to compete in the event.

The 26.2 mile anti-clockwise route circumnavigates England’s longest lake, Windermere. It takes in the honey-pot sites of Hawkshead, Newby Bridge, Bowness-on-Windermere and Ambleside.
