Entries for Ramathon 2017 are now open! Returning to the city of Derby for a fourth year, the Ramathon – now with a world record to its name – will again be based at Derby County’s iconic iPro Stadium; the home of the Rams. Derby County Football Club is the race partner for a third year.
At 2016’s Ramathon, Lindsy James (handicap 4.6) set a new world record as fastest female to complete a half marathon pushing a baby in a pram. For next year, the aim is to smash new records all across the event with higher fundraising totals, faster personal bests and more live entertainment around the course!
Taking in the bustle of the city centre as well as the scenic grounds of Elvaston Castle Country Park, Ramathon is one of the flattest half marathon courses in the country, providing runners with the potential to achieve a personal best.
With a team run option, Mini Ramathon fun run, live entertainment and thousands of spectators lining the course on race day, Ramathon 2017 will be a day to remember.
Race Director, Richard Kay said, “After just three years, Ramathon has firmly established itself as one of the leading regional running events. It is fantastic to be back at the iPro Stadium for 2017 and we’re thrilled to have the support of Derby County Football Club again for the fourth Derby Ramathon.”
Reflecting on her world record achievement, Lindsy James of Kimberworth Striders, Rotherham, said, ‘I was so excited to attempt a World Record at the Ramathon earlier this year. When we turned the corner into the final straight at the iPro Stadium, the crowd’s support was absolutely amazing, it was an unforgettable day’.
2016’s winner Stuart Spencer (handicap -4.5) of Notts AC said ‘2016’s Ramathon was a brilliant day – the new route which included a city centre section was a great addition to the course. I can’t wait for next year’s event where I hope to defend my title!’
Derby County Football Club will be official race partner for a third year and Ramathon is pleased to offer a discount, exclusively to season ticket holders, of £2.00 on the standard entry fee valid until midnight 23rd October.
Faye Nixon, Marketing Manager at Derby County Football Club said, “We’re thrilled that the Ramathon runners will be returning to the iPro Stadium in 2017, we’re sure it will be another fantastic day for all involved”.
