Rally up the troops, run and raise money for charity

Meadows marathon

The Meadows Marathon is back in just over a month and the organisers, all of whom are student volunteers, are challenging businesses and workplaces across the land to get a squad together to run - if you think you could handle it!

Your team can choose the charity they want to fundraise for - so you can run for something that’s really important to you. The team that raises the most amount of money will receive a bonus £200 for their charity and there will be other prizes for the 2nd and 3rd highest-fundraising teams. There will be some great entertainment on the day and whether you are walking, running, jumping or dancing you can take part.

The full marathon is £25 to enter and the half marathon and fun run are £15, with entrants also encouraged to set up Virgin Money Just Giving pages to raise funds for charity. Last year over 800 runners raised nearly £40,000 for a number of different charities based in Edinburgh and beyond. If you think you and your team can take on the Meadows Marathon challenge or for more information, email your details to [email protected]. You will even have you the opportunity to publish your updates on the race blog.

In other news, the open air concert in Bristo Square taking place on the day of the Meadows Marathon is shaping up nicely. You can see the official event page on Facebook here and if you are in / know a band or performer who want to do their thing on Sunday 4th March in the Meadows, get in touch today. More concert details are to be announced, plus full details on the Meadows Marathon's involvement with local schools - stay tuned!
