Races cancelled due to weather

Hastings Half

After reporting a huge increase of race results in the runbritain handicap database over the last two weeks, the numbers this weekend have been stifled by the weather.

Sixteen races were postponed or cancelled because of the unseasonal weather of snow and bitterly cold high winds. Having said that, we have still recorded 25,431 of your performances over the weekend so congratulations if you are one of those runners that braved the cold! For full results check out our results page.

Some of the performances now on the data base came from:

Wilmslow Half Marathon - 3659
Hastings Half Marathon - 3324
Brentwood Half Marathon - 2097
B&Q Eastleigh 10K - 2080
Jim Dingwall Round The Houses 10K - 690

Many of the runners in those races managed sterling performances ...Andy Holland told us through  facebook that he managed a four minute personal best at Wilmslow where, according to Maria Parkinson, the wind cut straight through! Even Pete Jewell whose normal mantra is "no such thing as bad weather, only poor choice of clothes" had to admit that the wind was cutting!

It wasn't just the racers who deserve a pat on the back. Some of you were out on very long training runs where the general consensus was extra layers and a slower pace. Thanks to Rachel Andrew who reminds us of taking care when running in icy and snowy conditions. We wish her all the best with her recovery.

If you raced this weekend and haven't found your handicap score yet make sure you sign up because the race that you ran in is most likely on the data base! Handicap scores range from MINUS 6.1 (Mo Farah) to 36 and you are somewhere in between!
