Polar Heart Rate Monitor for Reward Running Winner

The results of the Reward Running competition for June are out now!
This competition, sponsored by Polar, rewards runners who have improved their handicap score by the largest amount with a Polar Heart Rate Monitor.
For most of the month of June, it looked like Nick Kelly (handicap 7.3) was going to romp away with the prize. He started the month on 15.9. He then took his score down to 13.1 when he ran the Three Sisters 5k on Wednesday 11 June in a best time of 20:26 before smashing through the 20 minute barrier just four days later, with a 19:50 clocking at the Joseph Holts 5k. Realising he was on a roll, he then tackled the Horwich Jubilee 5 and took his score down to 8.4 with a 34:23 clocking and followed that up with a 42:43 at the Elleston Arms 10k.
It was starting to look like he couldn't be beaten but with a late charge, Scott Fowler (handicap 18.9) put in four races in eight days and reduced his handicap by 12.498 points! His month began with a handicap score of 31.4 and that score slipped even further, at the beginning of the month because he hadn't raced since the Virgin London Marathon, but he made great progress between 22nd June - 29th June with the following results:
Race | Time | Handicap score |
City of London Mile | 7:06 | 27.4 |
Self Transcendence 5k | 25:50 | 24.1 |
Assembly League 5k | 25:33 | 21.5 |
Capital Runners Bushy Park 10k | 51:20 | 18.9 |
Scott will shortly receive a Polar RC3 GPS heart Rate Monitor (RRP £249.50) for his June improvement.
At the end of each month from March until October, the runner who improves their handicap the most in that month will receive a Polar heart rate monitor.
