Polar Heart Rate Monitor for Reward Running Winner

Polar RC3 GPS

The results of the Reward Running competition for May are out now!

This competition, sponsored by Polar, rewards runners who have improved their handicap score by the largest amount with a Polar Heart Rate Monitor.

Vicki McDermott (handicap 20.0) is the winner in the May competition. She brought her handicap score down from 28.0 to 20.0 by improving her 10k time by almost four minutes at the Great East Anglia Run on 4th May, recording 42:55 for 5 miles at the Great Yarmouth Promenade 5 on the 7th May and knocking more than three minutes off her 5k at the Wroxham 5k. on the 14th May,

Finishing agonisingly close in 2nd place was Carl Pratt (handicap 10.8). Carl started the month on 18.2. He ran 21:51 at the Port Sunlight 5k on 11th May, 45:26 at the Bupa Great Manchester 10k one week later and then ran a superb personal best at the Rock 'n' Roll Liverpool Marathon in 3:34:12, knocking 48 minutes off his previous time. Carl knew that he was capable of a fast sprint finish to first place in May's Reward Running competition and was relying on running well at the Hollins Green 5k on 31st May but this race was unfortunately postponed and will now take place this month!

Carl sent this message to Vicki "Congratutulations to Vicki who has done great! So close for me though :-)"

Vicki will shortly receive a Polar RC3 GPS heart Rate Monitor (RRP £249.50) for her May improvement.

At the end of each month from March until October, the runner who improves their handicap the most in that month will receive a Polar heart rate monitor.
