Places sold out for Standard Chartered Great City Race

The 2013 Standard Chartered Great City Race, which takes place on the closed off streets of London’s Square Mile on Thursday 11 July, has already reached capacity. Over 6,000 runners from over 400 companies across the City have registered to take part. The legal sector has taken the lion’s share of entries with over 110 companies signing up.
The 6,000 runners will also be joined by a group of celebrities who have come together to run blindfolded in support of Seeing is Believing: they include TV presenter Chris Hollins and former England cricket captain Mike Gatting OBE, who will be joined by 5-time Paralympic running gold medallist and Seeing is Believing ambassador, Noel Thatcher MBE.
The top legal entrants come from DLA Piper LLP and Slaughter and May with 100 participants from Slaughter and May and 65 from DLA Piper. The number of teams who have entered alone from the legal sector is 112.
Seeing is Believing, a global initiative that tackles avoidable blindness, is this year’s official race beneficiary. £10 from every runner’s entry fee will go towards this charitable initiative and all funds raised through the race will be used to support an eye care project in Zambia. Standard Chartered has also committed to match every donation pound for pound, doubling the impact.
