Philip Wylie and Rosie Smith set the lowest scores of the week at Saltwell 10k

This weekend’s Saltwell 10k produced the week’s top road performances in the UK for both men and women.

The Saltwell 10k, that was first run in 1911 and could be Britain's oldest road race, is run on a traffic free and undulating course and, last Saturday, produced three of the top ten men's and two of the top ten women's best road performances of the week.

Philip Wylie (handicap -3.8) won the race convincingly and took 0.3 off his handicap score for his time of 31:50 on this course that was given an SSS of 2.1 to reflect the level of difficulty. His handicap net score of -4.2 was the lowest of the week. Richard Morrell (handicap -3.8) was second in the race, with a time of 32:24 and a net score of -3.5 that was 6th on the top ten list for the week and Daniel Jenkin (handicap -3.4) finished 3rd in a time of 33:01, giving him the 8th on the top ten list for his net score of -2.9.

Rosie Smith (handicap -0.1) won the women's race in a time of 35:05 and took 0.2 off her handicap score. Her net score of -0.6 was the lowest women's score of the week and the only one below scratch. Aly Dixon (handicap -0.5) finished 2nd in the race and achieved the joint second lowest net score of the week with 0.1.Her time of 35:44 kept her handicap score stable at -0.5 although she has been as low as -1.8 for previous performances. Jenna Hill (handicap 1.9) tied with Rosie for second lowest score of the week for her run at the Bushy Park parkrun where she recorded a time of 17:04 and took 0.7 off her handicap score.
