Petition to lobby Gove
When Michael Gove recently issued his guidance, to teachers, on possible disciplinary sanctions he included "Extra physical activity such as running around a playing field' (Behaviour and Discipline in Schools p.8)

Michael Gove's comments have caused outrage within the running community and further afield with those who understand how irresponsible it can be to use running as a punishment. When the benefits of running are so wide ranging in terms of physical and mental well-being, it seems incredible that it would be allowed, let alone encouraged, to be used in such a negative way with the huge risk disengaging people from a young age.
The petition set up to lobby Mr Gove for this statement to be removed from the document in its subsequent December 2014 review and revisions can be found here.
