parkrunNewham 24-hour non-stop relay

The Newham 24-hour non-stop relay, organised by East End Road Runners, will take place between noon on 18 August until noon 19 August at the Terence McMillan Stadium (Newham Leisure Centre), 281 Prince Regent Lane, London E13 8SD.

The event is a non-stop baton carrying relay (inspired by the Olympic Torch Relay) which will see eight teams, one to each lane of the Stadium (400m running track), made up of between 24 and 48 runners per team. There are full hour or half hour slots per runner. It runs continuously for 24 hours, with runners trying to complete as many kilometres in that time as possible.

Each team is attempting to run the furthest but teams are also jointly attempting to run farther than 2012km as a combined total.

This free event, open to the public as well as members of local running groups and clubs, is seen as both a celebration of the unique location in the heart of the 2012 Olympic geography and a coming together of local running communities in a spirit of competition and co-operation.
