One week to the final race of the Grand Prix

The Age UK Leeds Abbey Dash takes place on 15th November and the UK's best runners will be battling it out for the top prize of £3000 in this final race of the 2015 runbritain Grand Prix.

Grand Prix points are awarded for the first 250 finishing positions in the six races that are in the series. 250 points are awarded to the first British finisher, down to 1 point for the 250th British finisher and there are extra points available for fast times. Up to the best four scores from the six available races count at the end of the series. Prize money totals £18,000 and is shared by the top 10 male and female British runners.

The elite entries, for this final race, include John Beattie (handicap -4.7 ), Dewi Griffiths (handicap -5.4) and Shaun Antell (handicap -4.1)  who are currently 1st, 2nd and 6th respectively in the men's standings. John already has four races under his belt and a total of 1485 points. He will be looking to improve his lowest score of 242 (9th at the Bristol 10k) and also pick up bonus points for a fast time. John's time of 29:28 at the Bupa London 10,000 earned him an extra 200 points and he will be looking to dip under 29:30 again, to earn those points, and hoping that Dewi will be on the other side of that barrier! Dewi has only done three races, so far, and has 1243 points. He only needs 242 points to equal John's current score and so the race is on between these two in this final event. Shaun has done all five races, so far, and will be looking to improve his lowest, counting score of 233 (24th and 18th eligible athlete at the Vitality Reading Half Marathon) to secure his position.

Last year's first and second placers. Andrew Butchart (handicap -5.6) and Callum Hawkins (handicap -6.1) are also expected to race but Andrew has only done one race in the series so far and it will be Callum's first Grand Prix race so neither will feature in the overall standings.

The outcome of the women's competition is also difficult to predict and promises an exciting finish. Rachel Felton (handicap -0.2), Faye Fullerton (handicap -0.8), Julia Belyavin (handicap 3.4), Michelle Ross-Cope (handicap -0.8) and Jenny Spink (handicap -0.5) have all confirmed their entries. They are currently 1st, 2nd, 5th, 7th and 8th respectively in the women's standings. Rachel has 991 points, Faye has 982 points and Julia has 836. All three have done four races. Both Michelle and Jenny have only done three races and have 743 and 742 points and so could steal the top spot in this final race.
