Helen's Trust 10k Chatsworth

Yes, that’s what we are looking forward to hearing in a few months time when runners join together once again to raise money and take part in Helen's Trust annual fundraising sporting event at the Chatsworth estate in the Peak District on Sunday 19th May 2013. This year the event will incorporate a 10K across this prestigious estate, a 3K Fun Run and new for 2013 a Teddy Bear Toddle for 0 – 5yr olds, led by the Trust's very own Bakewell Bear.

After the huge disappointment of being forced to cancel the 10K run earlier this year due to poor ground conditions at Chatsworth, Lucy Nickson, CEO of Helen’s Trust and Race Director, Lucinda White, are thrilled to announce that the 2013 race will be going ahead and its full steam ahead to race day!

Ms Nickson commented “Cancelling an event is never an easy decision to make and we were not alone as so many other events had to be cancelled or postponed this year too.  We lost out on a major fundraising event for the Trust which affected our income and put the pressure on to raise money from our other events and funding avenues. We are doing everything we can to ensure cancelling future races is not an option and talks have already taken place with the events team at the iconic park to ensure a reserve date will be available should bad weather hit us once again.”

The team at Helen’s Trust, a local charity who help over 200 incurably ill people every year remain in their own homes, are asking all 2012 runners to sign up again in 2013 and will be compensating them for the loss of their entry fee by giving them a 25% discount off their 2013 registration fee.  In addition, the Trust has made no increase in the prices for new runners wishing to take part and participants and volunteers will receive discounted entry into Chatsworth house and gardens and a 25% discount in Chatsworth retail and farm shops on the day.

Lucinda White, Race Director, said “We have secured some high profile local sponsors this year already including Irwin Mitchell, Henry Boot, Holdsworths and Brampton Manor plus many more and we truly value our supporters and all the contributions they make; every penny raised from this event, through entry fees, sponsorship, and corporate donations is directed to maintaining our valuable services for our beneficiaries and we hope that everyone will get behind our charity once again and join us for this excellent fun packed day.

“We are inviting individuals to raise a minimum of £50 in sponsor money to help us reach our fundraising target of £25,000 and are also encouraging corporate teams to attend a launch event in the New Year to register their company in the Corporate Team Challenge.”

The Duke of Devonshire will be officially starting the race on the day and has kindly agreed to give out prizes to the deserving winners. We hope that more well known people will be present on the day too and The race has talks are already in place with other local celebrities to help raise the profile, boost numbers and make the 2013 race the best one yet!   Watch this space!
