Olympian Mary Decker-Slaney wins The ElliptiGO Mile!

Mary Decker Slaney - ElliptiGO champ

In a battle of Olympic Track & Field Legends on 5 June 2014 Jearl Miles-Clark (2x Olympic Gold Medalist), Mary Decker Slaney (3x Olympian), and Darcy Arreola Lange (3x USA National Collegiate Athletic Association Division 2 Champion) went head-to-head in the ElliptiGO Mile track race.

These three champions of track running raced on the track at the Jim Ryun Festival of Miles, an event celebrating the 50th anniversary of Jim Ryun running the first sub-4:00 mile by an American high schooler. Jim was on hand at Balboa Stadium in San Diego to congratulate and greet all the competitors.

Finishing in 3:24.9, Mary powered through the mile for a win, edging Darcy by 7 seconds and Jearl by 30. Mary has been training on the ElliptiGO for more than two years and has placed in the top 3 at the ElliptiGO World Championships races for the past two years, winning the Time Trial in 2012. The running legend is planning to be back at the Championships this autumn, and if last night's performance is any indication, it looks like she'll be in fantastic form.

The ElliptiGO was born in the United States and is the innovation of two runners, Bryan Pate and Brent Teal. The ElliptiGO is a low impact running devise that can be ridden on the street or the running track and is now enjoying success in Britain. For more information click here.
