New Year's Resolutions and mild weather bring four figures to parkrun

 Bushy parkrun

In 2004 parkrun was born in Bushy Park. There were just 26 runners for the first ever Christmas parkrun but runners know a good thing when they see it and hear about it and the following year that number had just about doubled. It has grown massively every year and landed on 631 this year.

Just two weeks later the Bushy parkrun cracked the 1000 runner barrier! The organisers put it down to New Year's Resolutions and the mild weather. The number is 379 more than the same time last year and broke the previous best record of 864 who turned up one September Saturday last year. Writing on their news page in an article titled "We going to need a bigger boat!" the organisers said of the start line "It was an awesome sight, but to be honest the funnel was a bit frantic for a few minutes to say the least!"
