New sponsors, original route: Ballot opens for the 2022 Royal Parks Half Marathon

Enjoy run

Entering its fifteenth year, the ballot has officially opened for the 2022 Royal Parks Half Marathon, presented by Royal Bank of Canada, which will take place on Sunday 9th October 2022.

Viewed as one of the most beautiful half marathons in the world, the 13.1mile run leads its 16,000 participants through four of London’s eight Royal Parks, including Hyde Park, The Green Park, St James’s Park and Kensington Gardens.

Internationally recognised London landmarks also form part of the race’s backdrop –with runners being in eye-shot of Trafalgar Square, the London Eye, Canada House and Buckingham Palace.

Last year, organisers announced a revised route for the first time since 2015. This saw the east end of The Mall become the new starting point; the modified route was brought in to adhere to the government guidelines on social distancing.

However, with the mass rollout of vaccines and booster jabs, it’s been announced that the 2022 race will return to its original recognisable route – starting and finishing in Hyde Park.

Additionally, the Royal Parks Half Marathon has also announced two exciting new event sponsors: UK's No.1 meat free brand*, Quorn® and online fundraising platform, JustGiving.

One thing that has remained, is the race’s commitment to sustainability. The half marathon has maintained its pledge to ban all plastic bottles on course and within the festival site and to drastically reduce waste wherever possible.

Head of Events, Filming and Commercial Development at The Royal Parks, Alun Mainwaring, commented: “The Royal Parks Half Marathon promises to be bigger and better than ever before with the race returning to its original route. Not only does the Royal Parks Half provide runners with an unforgettable running experience through some of the capital’s greenest locations, but it also continues to be a fantastic means of supporting charities big and small. Since 2008, over £55million has been raised, supporting over 1,000 charities – we’re excited to see how much will be raised in 2022!”

Dave Thomas, CEO RBC Europe stated: “Royal Bank of Canada is delighted to return as Presenting Partner of the stunning Royal Parks Half Marathon for the sixth year. The positive impact of this sustainable event on participants, hundreds of charities and The Royal Parks is tremendous so all the best to everyone who enters the ballot. We look forward to seeing you on the start line in Hyde Park in October.”

To confirm a place in the October half marathon the standard ballot fee is £59.00.
